Çankaya is an older established area offering comfortable apartments in the 'embassy' area of the city. Socioeconomic levels vary substantially; nice buildings are set alongside older, less well kept properties. It is popularly considered to be the best area in Ankara in terms of convenience for shopping, proximity to schools and access to the city's commercial and business district.

Available apartments feature a relatively large living room, 3-4 bedrooms and at least one and half bathrooms. Small apartments are difficult to find. Covered, secured parking is at a premium. Most of the buildings offer off-street parking lots. As a result of the large number of government officials living in the area and the presence of many embassies, Çankaya features a high level of security with many state police at numerous points.

Gaziosmanpasa is a newer area, still expanding with a relatively high number of ongoing construction projects.A significant proportion of expatriates prefer to locate there due to the higher quality of the properties. Apartments are set in two-three floor buildings with a few sky scrapers at the top of the hill. A lot of the apartments offer excellent views over the city, especially on a clear night.

The vast majority of available apartments feature 2-5 bedrooms, quiet large living-room and 2 or more bathrooms. Split level properties with large roof terrace are very common in this area. Many apartments offer a covered garage or at least reserved parking lot. As in Çankaya, Gaziosmanpasa features numerous police patrols.

In both areas furnished, turn-key accommodation is readily available. Many of the properties here are fully equipped apartments with all facilities incl.. telephone and cable TV.Half-furnished accommodation i.e. appliances, drapes and light fixtures are very hard to find here, as in the rest of Ankara.
